The original drawing was done in a 20-minute life drawing session. It was then copied on a zinc plate. After the first five copies are printed, the aquatint technique was used to darken the background and girl’s hair. Various copies printed in different color combinations. I tried to imitate Rothko’s technique but on a much smaller scale. Each painting has around 50 layers of paint. In each layer, I used little paint and diluted it with acrylic glazing medium.
This was done on a night tour in the Cathedral of Mont St. Michel in Normandy. At some point in the tour, some paper and some stamp were provided, mainly for small children to enjoy.
