Copy of David Hockney’s “Nichols Canyon” ❌

Acrylic on canvas, 2017, 91 cm x 61 cm

This is a copy of the David Hockney’s Nichols Road. It is about 1/4 size of the original painting.

I saw this painting in the David Hockney exhibition in Tate. I really liked it and wanted to paint it, mostly in order to study the painting in more detail.

Unfortunately, all of its images on the internet are very low resolution and colors are different from the original painting. They were not allowing photographing paintings in the exhibition. So I have visited the exhibition five times, took careful notes of which colors are used how he had painted different sections.

The whole process was very entertaining and I have learned a lot from this.

I think this (I mean Hockney’s original) is a wonderful painting.
